I'm honestly surprised by this question . . . I was flying on airplane by myself at 13. I think there's a reason kids are afraid to get their drivers licenses and live at home well into their 20s these days; we've got to keep increasing how much autonomy we give our kids. An enclosed park with security is a no-brainer to me.

I flew across the country when I was 8 years old but it was a different world then.

I tend to think things were riskier back then. When I arrived at the airport my sister wasn't there to pick me up. I had to find a payphone, know how to use it and my parents' phone number, etc. Now our kids can call or text us from anywhere.

We've just needlessly changed our culture to be super conservative about what we let kids do in the real world, and far too lenient about what we let them do online.

How do they take a phone in a water park?

Are there clocks around if they don't bring phones and we just set check in times?

Does anyone know the answer?

Yes, it's fine.

I have been there many times and I would let them go on a weekday during the day so long as they do not go up the water park. It is filthy and does not seem to be well maintained snd life-guarded. The amusement park is calm and fun during weekday days - it would be a good first outing with a friend for her.

15 year olds? Do you never let your 15 year old go anywhere alone?

Post in the teens and tweens forum next time. Parents of babies and toddlers tend to be hysterical.

Bloodlust for treen drivers to kill themselves and others is different from attending an amusement park.

We go with teens and stay in the park. We check in a few times and we rarely stay past 7PM.

Just spent the day there yesterday for my 14 year old's birthday. He and 7 friends went. It was pretty empty and even though some of the rides were closed, they barely had to wait for any rides and had a blast.

Us parents didn't follow them around but hung out in the shade and checked in on them here and there. It was totally fine. It was really hot so the water park was more crowded, but even that was mostly families and camp kids on a field trip.

The last two times my kids have gone to amusement parks they have witnessed race-related fights. The first time a white woman on drugs attacked a 15yo Black girl on the top of the waterslide for “stealing her man” and when a white man tried to break up the fight, all the Black people thought he was the white girl’s boyfriend and called him a racist.

Last week my DD and her friends went to a trampoline park by themselves on Juneteenth and a Black lady started screaming at a white lady because the white woman’s kid allegedly kicked her kid. The white woman’s husband called the cops because the black woman was screaming and threatening to “press charges” on the kid so the black woman called them racist for calling the cops. Then an Asian lady started filming the whole thing so the Black lady called her racist for filming and stuck her finger in her face. When the police came everyone in the park had to leave.

Weird people come to amusement parks. I wouldn’t let my kids go to Six Flags by themselves without a parent unless they are over the age of 16.

Seriously you're asking this?

HECK NO.
