Yeah I think it really depends on the social circle. Like in utah you have very outdoorsy people, super showy mormons (like real housewives types), generic suburban frumps, some alt/punk types, etc

I don’t care where you live, of course there will be some people who wear chino shorts, summery top and some minimal make up. Come on, you weren’t in a nap dress and heeled sandals (even that is so basic someone will have a version of it in anywhere, USA).

How do I know this is likely correct - because there are fashion/clothing bloggers in literally every state and area.

Me too! With a simple necklace and casual earrings. But not with flip flops, because they are horrible for your feet, knees, and back.

Dungarees? Young moms in pixie cuts and baggy clothes? It just doesn't ring true. Nobody wears a pixie cut these days unless they are a masc lesbian or very fashion-forward. This isn't 1995. The moms who don't care about being stylish or dated will be wearing cheap skinny jeans or athleisure.

OP, I get it, you're prettier than they are. Sometimes this happens to me.

If you are that self conscious just wear stud earrings, a neutral lip with the makeup you mentioned, a t shirt or button down that fits well with whatever bottoms you want, and call it a day.

I have never dressed like other people, OP. Yet somehow I've made friends. Would I have made more friends if I'd dressed exactly like everyone else? Maybe, but then I can't change my multiethnic background, and I'm sure that also has something to do with whether I'm socially in or out!

This is true for both GenX and GenZ - btw.

My GenZ niece and her friends are MUCH more like my GenX cohort than either the boomers before us and the millennials after us. Clothing is more casual, people care less about traditional romantic relationships etc.
