They blame them for their problems plus the ones who had the wherewithal to get out of the camps and make it are usually the nastiest, most tough people. the nice ones get thrown of rafts and drown or sold into slavery.
These politicians need to focus on stopping the flow of migration and the only way to do that is to improve living conditions in the Global south and give people living there a reason to invest in their own countries. As climate change gets worse and social media showcases how the other half ives and dies, this problem will only get worse.
as someone upthread commented- attacking the Baathists and getting rid of Qaddafi was an enormous mistake. who cares if their people are suffering and governments are oppressive- they were good enough that the vast majority choose to stay put. The entire global population cannot move to or live off the prosperity of CA, EU,US, UAE, & AU. If they dont move here- they are sending money back. these countries need to be coaxed and supported into prosperity on their own or they will take everyone down with them. I am from a displaced people, my family stayed put for 300 years and the past 4 generations not single person had died in the land of their birth so I KNOW about immigration and how traumatic it is. People will keep migrating if they feel hopeless in their current circumstance or if the gamble is worth it. We cannot absorb 100s of millions of people and there are entire countries that would gladly send the entire population to these 5 entities mentioned above. That is not sustainable. instead of addressing this- politicians are either demonizing migrants or worrying about wether its culturally insensitive to tell the man with 3 wives in 3 government housing units that he shouldn't have more kids.

Just two years ago the left and center left were trying to get the voting age dropped to 16. I saw some coverage stating the Greens had lost around 15% of the youth vote they used to command.

It’s blowback against a corrupt, subservient and deeply centralized regime taking orders from DC elites.
The war against Russia has impoverished Europe as well.

Gee, you mean it is a terrible idea to have open borders for mass migration, invite in a while bunch of poverty that saps billions from taxpayers and social services, and in Europe's case, upends national identity because the people you're flooding your country with have customs and norms that are the antithesis of your own?
Stupid liberals. They think everyone will get along and sing kumbaya songs. No person is illegal, right? Borders shouldn't even exist. Economic opportunities are a fundamental human right, yadda yadda. They've ruined their own countries and are surprised at the backlash. Idiots.

Conservatives lead by 18 over the Liberals. It’s been 658 straight days that the Conservatives have led the Liberals in Abacus Data polling.
If an election were held today, 42% of committed voters would vote Conservatives with the Liberals at 24%, the NDP at 18% and the Greens at 4%. The BQ is at 34% in Quebec.
Since our last survey, the Conservatives are up 1, the Liberals are unchanged, and the NDP is down 1. Since the beginning of the year, we have seen stability in vote intentions with the Conservatives consistently in the low 40s and the Liberals stuck in the low to mid 20s.

Trudeau is sinking in the polls.

This is because Canadian Liberals have gone far off into the deep end.

This "DC elites" meme is fictional.
