I think it is absolutely laughable they define a serving as only a 1/4 of a cookie. Who TF is going to only eat 1/4 of a cookie. No, the entire cookie itself has almost 800 calories, 30+ grams of sugar, 100% DV worth of saturated fat, and over 100 mg of cholesterol.
It's not even a sweet 'treat'. It's a giant health bomb.
We have always cut them in quarters or eighths. My teen and tween usually eat a quarter and DH and I eat an eighth. I think it is laughable that you would look at that giant cookie and think it should be eaten all at once.

Wow! Is that any specific cookie? I assume the larger premium cookie cake things are even worse! They are usually $1-3 extra too.
That's just the standard chocolate chip cookie. Here is the even worse freak show that is the cinnamon bun cookie:

I can't imagine feeding this thing to a child. Even if you cut it into 1/4 you're still giving a kid 20 grams of sugar they'll wolf down in about 10 seconds. That's borderline child abuse.
Americans should learn to live with the mindset of Swedish lagom. Why does everything have to be so massively excessive in this country? And we.wondee why our people are so unhealthy.
To put this in perspective, this is almost akin to eating an entire pint of Ben and Jerry’s ice cream.

It's interesting that you mention this because several people that I have met from either Utah or Minnesota have "off" "weird" tastebuds. It's like they either like super bland food, food with too much cheese or overly sweet items as if their tastebuds don't work properly.
What? Their tastebuds aren’t “weird.” You know how people speak of others having good or poor “taste”? The metaphor arises out of the fact that people have different taste—literally. And it is heavily influenced by culture. Not a lot of heavy seasoning going on in the upper Midwest, so people develop a liking for bland foods—because that is what they grew up with. Their tastebuds “work” just fine.
So go away with your ignorance and snobbery.
