Too soon for what? You sound too immature to be married.

We just had a family wedding and I think this is totally doable. As others said, get your venue asap, dress, save the date cards out and everything will fall into place. It's not a 40 hr a week job to plan a wedding. A planner will help tremendously, even a day of planner.

13 months. We got married in Charleston because my parents live there and we wanted to avoid hurricane season, plus the venue was only available very limited days, so that pushed it to 13 months.

I've seen weddings within 5 days of the engagement and also after 5 years so there is really no set rule.

The year long engagement is just an artificial state of animation and capitalistic enterprise. I planned a very traditional and nice wedding and reception in less than six months. It's not rocket science and doesn't require 1+ year.

People make it harder than it needs to be to get attention.

I was watching a show the other day where an older couple decided to get married while they were on vacation together in Gibraltar. It was essentially an elopement, but at an age when there aren't any parents around to mind that they weren't included and didn't give "permission." Seemed romantic to me.

Engaged in Sept.Married in January.
Dress off the rack.
Used a planner, who had vendor relationships and planner was/would be a repeat customer.

Don't wait after living together for more than a year, don't put life on hold, live life while building career.

14 months for us. But I was early/mid 20s and wanted to take my time with the planning, wasn't in any rush, and picked the time of year that worked best for our families & venue - which was already fully booked at the 2-month mark, so 14 months it was. We could have done it in 6-8 months if we'd wanted to. Possibly with some compromises on vendors and such, and definitely less 'spend a couple months thinking about xyz' and more timely decisions. If you're a decisive person, go for it.

Lol, I dont really care if anyone thinks we waited too long or got engaged/married too early.

We're still together (not anywhere close to 70 yet). Do what works for you! No need to yuck someone elses yum.

About 17mons. Engaged in April, married the next Sept.

My timing was based on the venue's availability, as I had one specific venue I wanted. Basically they had 2 dates available, June or Sept, and Sept was going to be better weather.

I dont think the actual time gap matters that much. As long as you have enough time to get your vendors booked, works with you and your FI and families schedules, that's all you need.

Friends for three years, dated for eight months, got engaged and married 6 months later. Smallish wedding so it was easy to plan.
