You pretty much have to do write-ins given the lack of competition for seats. Only one candidate for mayor. The exact number of school board candidates as there are number of seats. These elections are like giving out participation trophies at this point.
Well at least there were school board candidates. There was one year there were none as of the summer before the election. A newspaper article brought it to residents attention and eventually they managed to get some candidates.
I think it’s bc it’s a losing battle for little compensation. Who wants to do that? I also think the reality is that many people might want to run but hold middle of the road views and some that *gasp* go over a tiny bit to the right and they know the liberal mob would ruin them even if they had very reasonable and well thought out ideas.
