My kid started sending in applications in November and still doesn't have an internship-- or even an interview.
He takes full responsibility for the position he is in, but he did start sending in applications in November. It's not the delay that's the problem-- he evidently should have sent out his resume in the shotgun approach rather than the narrow and tailored approach that felt right to him.

Anonymous wrote:My high school senior found an internship for time before college. He is in the high school students only pool of applicants but had lots of skills by that time. Fed internship in data science.
It’s nice to have something to go back to next summer if it all works out.
