No, they are going away as a hook only with a direct question about race and a direct answer about race. Instead, a kid can talk about his race in his essay and it can be considered that way.

Anonymous wrote:I thought in the past the state schools had a limit of 25% OOS - but maybe that was in the 90s. In terms of admitting OOS, VA does seem a bit on the generous side. Some states like Florida limit OOS to 10% for all the Florida public schools combined.

Probably more in state kids are accepting the original admissions offer. It’s not taking seats away from in state kids, just maintaining the planned balance.
