Also eliminated all added sugars. And only eat honey.

OP here with an update, in case anyone is interested.

I’m on day 6 of the diet and 7lbs down. I feel great - my hunger is well-controlled and I have zero sugar cravings.

I recognize the 7lbs is water weight, so it will be interesting to see what the next couple weeks bring. I’d planning to do it for a month and then reevaluate. I’m already at a normal weight (BMI 22-23), so I expect slow results. I’d be very happy with 1lb per week.

First thing, I have been able to fully reverse type 2 diabetes without drugs and lost 60 pounds in the last two years. My skin, hormones, and muscle tone have greatly improved as well despite being almost 50. I get regular periods and no more menopausal symptoms. Fatty meat is the basis of hormonal health.

My husband has reversed his Hashimoto’s and is also no longer on any prescription drugs. He has mostly been thin and active since we have been together (30 years) but was getting skinny fat on a plant based diet. He is now muscle-y and looks amazing. Younger, more confident and a wow in bed!

Over the past two years we have given up alcohol as it’s no longer something we crave. We supplement with vitamin d (in the winter as we get plenty of sun otherwise), magnesium, and iodine (for hormonal and adrenal support).

Our two teens still at home love this way of eating and have been making huge strides in athletics while maintaining all A’s in school. They also work part time jobs and have great skin and hair. They know they will feel crappy when they eat standard American crap food with their friends. They have to experience that and learn on their own. Our two kids in college were skeptical but both have come around after seeing our results and are trying to stay cleaner with their diets and be more animal based.

I understand (especially as a former vegan) that this seems strange. Don’t knock it til you try it. We did this initially as a two week experiment and it’s been amazing.

We get most of our meat from a local rancher and get our eggs and raw milk and cream from a local farm. We are lucky that despite living in a major metropolitan area, we have been able to source this. We also shop at Costco for some extra meats, cheeses, sparkling water, and snacks(Chomps).

This is affordable, we are regular and our trashcan is practically empty every week as we generate hardly any trash now.

Why raw milk? My understanding is that there are no peer-reviewed studies out there that find that the nutritional benefits are notable and the very real risk of illness seems like a non-starter to me. My husband has family with a small farm and they are adamant that they never drink raw milk, they always boil it, even though they take very good care of their cows, because it's an unneccesary risk.

For me, a very low fiber diet has been very beneficial, my doctor said it's not uncommon. A condition I was told was chronic is now in remission.

I’m not surprised. Too much sugar and carbs and fiber can inflame the intestines. I’m sure your doctor knew from experience cutting those down may work.

Humans in general are bad for the planet. So is almond milk. Increased meat focused diets are so rare it’s a rounding error.

I don’t even think people that are on carnivore diets are eating meat as often as high carb eaters . Usually, they pair it with intermittent fasting from my research as meat (esp organ meats like liver) is highly satiating . I’d wager the high carb eaters are eating meat more frequently and more often.

Even if that's true, which is not, but I'll humor you, carinove diet does not provide for enough fiber, vitamins or minerals from the varied diet. How do you reconcile that?

I don't have the patience nor the interest to watch some YouTube quack. What is it you wanted to say?

It's a 40 second video......

I don't care how often you poop. You are not getting the essential nutrients or fiber from other food groups.
I'll give you fiber, but can you name a single nutrient you can't get in a reasonable quantity via a carnivore diet?

DP.

Vitamin C? That’s not in meat or dairy .

Antioxidants like flavonoids are only found in plants.

OP here. After stepping on the scale today, I’ve decided to do a trial-run of the carnivore diet. I have been on and off keto for 10+ years, so I think it’ll be an OK adjustment. Wish me luck!

This is a joke right? What are you getting from meat that’s also in broccoli, blueberries, wheat, etc.?

The biological impact of a single child is far, far greater than that of a carnivore diet. This is because non-food products have a far greater CO2 and environmental impact than food products. Do you call all soon-to-be parents "completely irresponsible" for making a decision with far greater environmental impacts than that of the carnivore diet?

Have you tried going Keto instead?

5 years now. I was keto prior to that for 6 years.

When I started carnivore from keto, I immediately lost 20 pounds more. (I had already lost 70 from keto.) my migraines went away instantly also. For 25 years, I had 5-10 per month. That reduced to 1 per year. When I go off certified and even move to standard keto, I immediately gain 10-20 pounds, which comes off very slowly when I go back to carnivore.
what's "certified" keto?

How much do you spend on food per month? Do you eat grass fed meat only, or "normal" meat, or organic meat only? What are your standards for milk and butter? How do you maintain meal variety? Do you allow using herbs and spices (not meat)?
