I’ve had two male colleagues named Kelly and liked both. I wouldn’t personally choose it but I think it’s fine.

I like it, but one one else will.

My BIL is a Kelly. He played high level college football, and is from a southern state. I’ve never questioned his masculinity.

This is only cool if you're landed nobility. Otherwise

My husband has a traditional female name and hates it. Also I have a gender neutral name so it confuses everyone. We purposely picked gender specific names for our kids

Is it too female leaning now for a boy's first name?

Kelly was traditionally male name until the trend began to give male names for girls, e.g., Carter. Dylan. Taylor, .etc.

I knew a kid named Kelly Jo, and all of us fellow kids assumed that her dad wanted a boy.

That's how much perceptions have changed over a relatively short time. I'd go for it.

How about Susan Kelly Surname? That way he can choose whether he'd like to go by Kelly or not. He may prefer Susan, or Suze, or Sue, or Suzie...

I remembered this thread when I had a male server named Kelly at a restaurant last weekend. He was around 30 with gorgeous green eyes.
