I think he should pay you back for the deposits. You relied on his promise to marry you. He should be the one to pay for the deposits.

Google is telling me that in Maryland you get to keep the ring because he broke off the engagement. Keep the ring. Sell it. Get some money.

OP, you are fortunate. You don't see it now but trust me.

I married my love, he lied, cheated, we divorced, I was stuck being a single mom, struggling to make ends meet, while he shacked up with some other lady.

If only I had been so lucky as to lose my deposits instead of 20 years of my life.

Not the PP but prayers are not just for sickness and death. They can be for anything - for happiness, emotional healing, that she find a better partner, or find peace in herself without a partner -- anything.
