A traumatic event can trigger the excessive drinking which can then exacerbate the illness. In Wendy’s case, her husband’s affair, subsequent baby, public humiliation and Covid seemed to be the main triggers. Wendy needed 24 hour care and no one was able to provide it, not her son who was in school, her parents who were too old and her sister didn’t seem interested. The situation may be different now, but it’s clear Wendy was in serious trouble

She's entitled to petition the court to re-evaluate her competency. If this is true, hopefully that is in progress.
