Maybe people can sell their spot if they want to leave.

One school: $1,000.

The other: nothing (we gave $1000 or $1500 years ago and school holds it until we leave). I gather we don't get any interest on that amount. Ha.

This is the norm at other privates and is applied to tuition. Once May rolls around and applicants walk it leaves the school in a difficult situation.

The deposit at little Langley, Dr. Scully’s former school is in the 10% range. I wonder if she is implementing at NCS to make the “keeping options open” strategy less appealing based on prior experience.

Agree. NCS parent here and we had to pay this at another school as well.
