WPI. Gives great merit. Deadline tomorrow, very easy application.

TCU was at midnight tonight actually. But they take most of their class ED so there aren’t many spots left. That would be a wasted application.

The deadline for TCU already passed. Arizona State will take anyone with a pulse 90% acceptance rate and it rolls but then you’d have to attend Arizona State and it’s not cheap either.

Posted earlier but want to add, there are some decent schools with March deadlines. My favorite: Cincinnati, NJIT, Dayton, Scranton, Juanita.

She could even tailor her essays to how she adapts to changing circumstances.

First of all, breathe and forget about blame. Now is the time to buckle up and use your resources. Agree with another poster, take tomorrow off or at least the afternoon. Spend 2 hours tonight looking at the 2/1 and 2/15 schools for applications. Re -read her essay for errors. And submit new applications.

Consider UMBC since it is in-state. Look at Butler, Drew, Washington College

Look up list of colleges with late application deadlines.

Or have her do a year at the expensive college and then transfer or appeal to the college based on your changing finances.

More college applications out most deadlines for decent schools have passed.

It is not too late! If your economic situation has taken a downturn and she sounds like a high performer in HS, you should consider applying to some schools that are likely to admit and give merit.

There are colleges who haven't filled their classes yet.

Or go to the expensive one she doesn't like and transfer?

Muhlenberg has a Feb deadline and gave my kid a lot of merit. There are probably many schools out there like that.

I feel like there is more going on here, like maybe she didn’t get into her favorite and is now playing the marytr, but there are many choices besides giving up entirely on 4-year colleges.

I would suggest any sort of transfer over the 3rd option. At that point she's competing with the the 2025s for admissions as opposed to the transfers.

OP, my STEM student (and STEM roommates) are all flourishing at UMBC. Maybe it's not for your DC, maybe it could be. I am not in your shoes, but I would 100% look into that option over any that you have listed. (We too could afford an expensive private, but DS felt this was his "fit")
