Yes!! Why do people not understand this!

Some real sociopaths on this board. Clearly these are people that are borne without a sense of empathy. Or had terrible parenting. I'm sure these are the same people that never remove the snow from the roof of their car and wait until it turns into a sixty pound sheet of ice that eventually blows into the car behind it.
Calling code enforcement is the right thing to do. Maybe fines will change behavior. And then proceed with some pettiness. Always park cars in front of their house. Let the neighborhood dogs use their front yard. And don't bother picking up because that would be trespassing, right? It's just fertilizer anyway. It'll go away on its own. Why bother.
Calling other people sociopaths because you are too lazy to put on boots and walk in the snow is pathetic. We don’t owe you a shoveled sidewalk. Your entitlement is showing. Buy some boots.
NP here. The civic minded thing to do is to shovel your sidewalk. I had to go shovel my elderly mom’s walk because I would feel terrible leaving it unshoveled. Once the snow goes through a few thaw-melt-freeze cycles walking in boots won’t help. It’ll be an uneven, icy mess.
Maybe there’s no law but it’s what good people do. And if you have a disability or are 80 years old, hire someone!
Hired many shovelers lately? Nobody’s knocked on my door for years with a snow shovel in their hand.

Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:What are some of you guys talking about? Is it really not a law in your county to shovel the sidewalk???? It’s definitely a law in Baltimore
It’s the law in DC, too. Everyone on my block shoveled except the house full of 20 something women, who are generally just not nice or neighborly people. The stretch in front of their house is now pure ice.

How do I tell my 30 year old neighbor to shovel his side of the street. He is 30 year old and he is very healthy but wont shovel what can we do?
Not all disabilities are visible[/quote
he walks a mile day .
That’s not a lot.
It sounds like you’re monitoring this guy. Which is creepy AF.

The rest of the block to the stop sign has 6 inches of snow untouched.Anonymous wrote:Come out to Fairfax County. Half of the sidewalks in our neighborhood are never shoveled. I wouldn’t think anything of this. I didn’t know it was the law to shovel a sidewalk anywhere.
It will be in the 50s and rain next week. It will be melted then.
And, what’s the practical impact?
Do people walk down the sidewalk with any regularity? (Dog walkers don’t count since they could easily walk their dog on their own property.)
Humans naturally walk, yes.

There are lots of walkers, joggers, dogs, and strollers on our street daily, but not now. Everyone just walks down the one side of the road that was scraped by the plow. It will melt in the next 7-10 days.Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:+1. Just don’t worry about it! That happened everywhere! I think I’m the only person on the block that shoveled my sidewalk.
