They are waiting on a dozen others.



None of these schools are selective. Congrats, but I’m not sure you’ve achieved anything other than some hollow victories. In fact, one could apply to most of these schools after being rejected by more selective schools and still get in. These applications - particularly in your number - are just not necessary.

I guess I don’t understand the rationale here. Obviously I don’t know where you live. But I think it would have made sense to apply to one or two additional public schools that provide decisions by Dec.

Would probably prevent some anxiety. Also, let’s not forget some school do defer high stats students, whether for yield protection, etc.

What did his school say? Did they have any thoughts on your approach?

Have you visited? What is your kid's intended major/area of interest?

It is an amazing school and we were pleasantly shocked at how much we liked it. Unfortunately, my kid liked another school better (similarly located in an area you'd go---"seriously you want to spend 4 years there?!?!") and it was an overall better fit for my kid. But case was their 2nd choice. Had money been an issue, they'd be at case with their amazing scholarship as well (well over 50% of tuition)

Case is a serious STEM school so if that is not your kid's thing do not consider it.
It is located in a great area of the city and the kids work hard there. For engineering, health sciences and pre-med it is a school that impresses those hiring and reading graduate applications.
It is cold in the winter though

Esp if A- high rigor student at a private w/ decently high test scores.

Or if you need merit and financial aid.

Because that's what is being done nowadays. it has gotten insane. Ask any college counselor

Exactly. People applying to 20 schools haven't done much research - they're just shotgunning apps.
