That said, my kid does have one acceptance at Pitt. Was deferred from ED school. None of the other schools applied to had early action, and she didn’t want to do ED 2 anywhere because she still wants to wait for the first school where she was deferred.
False. My kid has been accepted to:
UMW
Radford
Washington College
ODU
CNU
ECU
Randolph Macon
They are waiting on a dozen others.

How many places did kid apply?
This PP. update. Deferred @ NCState. Applied to only 6 schools. Top student but competitive HS.
Anonymous wrote:Just curious. My kid did restrictive early action (not an Ivy) and there was only one other school he liked/applied to that was public EA (but they don't announce until February). It was definitely the right strategy for him. He applied to 17 schools with a good mix of (safety, target and reach). They all only had ED, or EDI/EDII and his top choices weren't any that offered EDII.
It just feels weird to hear everyone talking about all these acceptances and he literally has no clue. He could care less though. He is a 35ACT/4.0uw/4.4w at a private so he will get in somewhere, but it feels really weird to not know until mid-late March.

Have you visited? What is your kid's intended major/area of interest?
It is an amazing school and we were pleasantly shocked at how much we liked it. Unfortunately, my kid liked another school better (similarly located in an area you'd go---"seriously you want to spend 4 years there?!?!") and it was an overall better fit for my kid. But case was their 2nd choice. Had money been an issue, they'd be at case with their amazing scholarship as well (well over 50% of tuition)

Waiting to hear on 15 more.
You applied to 20 schools? WHY
Exactly. People applying to 20 schools haven't done much research - they're just shotgunning apps. That only makes sense if you don't care about the character/feel of the school and only care about prestige. Otherwise, how many sub 10% admissions schools actually offer the environment your child wants?
Anonymous wrote:To me it makes sense to apply to maybe 3 safeties, 3 targets, and then a large number of sub-10% admissions reaches, just trying to win the lottery.
