Sure it can. Kids develop skills in elementary school and change as they become tweens.
The philosophies of the schools are polar opposites. ATS students should be rejected out of hand for spots at HBW.
True, but many parents simply like the small size of HB. It’s like a small private school in many respects. Like GDS in DC, but free.
No, they like that they can get their kids out of the neighborhood schools that have more poor browns. The entire thing is a farce.
Agree with PP -- if you ever applied to ATS, you should be disqualified from applying for HB.

They aren’t exactly geniuses running this thing.
And 100% there are admin transfers to HB for “horrible bullying” and whatever else APS feels like doing. It’s MADDENING. Why would child be transferred to HB instead of different neighborhood school?!? I am not for bullying obviously.
I'm sure there have been some but some people act like it's rampant and it's not. People blab in Arlington
Maybe not rampant, but enough to know there is room for corruption and favors.

I wasn't paying attention but you could go back and watch the lottery recording. 7th isn't an entry year for HB so spots would be based on the number of 6th graders who decided not to return.
I'm assuming that these spots will come up on a rolling basis as kids move away, move to private or choose to return to their home school. The lottery is to order the waitlist, not to fill already open spots.
