It refers to Duke St, Main St andLittle River Turnpike but not sure who uses the number.

Many people who grew up in the area refer to it as 236, especially in the Annandale area before it gets to Fairfax and is called Main Street.

+100 literally every one who grew up here calls it rt 236. Pp must be a newbie.

I'm in Fairfax not Annandale. We do not call Main St. 236!

I'm in Fairfax and I call it 236 (because my DH, who grew up in FFX, calls it that; he calls every numbered street by the number; 29, 50, 123, whatever).

My entire family and extended family all do the same to this day myself included it is 236! If you don't know to don't know.

I'm in Arlington and the roads were totally fine yesterday.

I drove on 236 three days ago and it was totally fine.

I grew up on 236 before it was called 236 and we had some bad ice storms.

I walked down 236 about 40 years ago, in the middle of a snow storm, had been to a bonfire and sledding at Pine Crest Golf course.

Had to leave car there because the roads were bad… I didn’t get hit by a car, but I did see some cars abandoned in the ditch that ran along the road.

But I was awfully cold walking home! This was way before Goretex and Northface.

That's an awesome memory thank you for sharing. pretty cool you could have a bonfire at pine crest gold course. How long has that been there? I had no idea it's been there 40 plus years!!!! What else was around it?

Slick and sloppy, trucks spinning out. Avoid at all costs.

I would not get on 81 until noon. I think it will be a dangerous, mess early in the day.

Currently watching all the cars try to drive from my window. They are sliding all over the place trying to back up and then go forward again to try and gain traction. It's a scene out there!

Had to go out to see aged parents to make sure all was well. They live not far away, 10 minutes on a typical day. This evening I drove very gingerly and it was less than 20 minutes. Everyone going slower than they really needed to, but glad they were. Some streets more clear than others. On way back did see two unfortunate accidents, one car clearly skidded making a turn and ran into a tree. The other involved three fender benders in a row. Very few traffic.

It's mot major snow but I suspect it's icier than it looks.

Learned to drive in SW Michigan fwiw, so I'm no stranger to driving in snow.

I think you're me, down to the Michigan thing (though I'm from SE MI) - I did a grocery run from Arlington to Falls Church this afternoon; things were totally fine on the way there and noticeably worse on the way back.

It’s quite bad in nova. Please don’t speak for the whole region

I thought we were trying to get real advice from real drivers?
