I hit a dog on Dupont Circle over 25 years ago and it still haunts me. It was pouring rain, about 5:30 pm on a cold winter evening, during rush hour. It was some sort of white, small dog. I saw him on the corner as I approached and he jump right in front of my car. I think he has lost and confused by all the headlights. There were so many cars and the traffic was horrible. I couldn’t even pull over to help him/her. I pray the people on the corner helped him.

Deer ran into e side of my car once. Car was fine (minimal body work) but poor deer limped off. It was upsetting

I do this in fort Washington. Little aholes have the never to hiss.

Pretty sure I killed a square or spun him in my wheel well. He acted all squirrelly when I zigged and he zagged

I hit a squirrel once and felt terrible. Then more recently on a vacation I backed into a beautiful huge turtle. It was not pretty.

Used to live in the midwest. Three deer, a raccoon, and a cat.

The cat was a miserable experience. I was driving on a highway and at a point in a town where it went down to 30mph, which I was doing. I heard a thump and looked in my rearview mirror and saw a cat flailing in the road and then got run over again by the truck behind me. It ran into the road from the side--never saw it in front of me.

The raccoon did the worst damage to my car--destroyed the right front bumper and headlight.

The biggest deer I hit I clipped straight on and it flipped up and over the car--barely scratched my car. Our eyes locked through the sunroof while it was upside down flying through the air. The county police called later and said they saw a blood trail but it stopped and they never found the deer.

You're supposed to call the police if there is a certain dollar amount of damage done to your car from the accident. I would only pull over and call at a safe location. If the deer is in the road and a hazard to others, definitely call. Under no circumstances would I stop where it isn't safe and I wouldn't be hunting for the deer. No one is going to rehabilitate it or a goose or a squirrel.

My dad used to do this, too - he would stop on busy roads, and literally stop traffic for the turtle, then move the turtle safely. I think it speaks volumes about a person's heart, if they are willing to do such a thing.

No it doesn't.

Hit a deer as a 16 year old in Pennsylvania. Guy behind me pulled over and reassured me it jumped out of nowhere, then asked if he could have the deer. Threw it into the back of his truck and we both went on our way. I was totally shocked, but the deer went under the tire so didn’t have any damage to the car.
