It’s only growing faster because of immigration. The south is growing because brown people who speak Spanish are moving in and replacing the white rednecks. But it takes time, probably another 20 years, before the south has enough of the white trash replaced by immigrants before it becomes truly safe. I can’t wait that long. I’m retiring in California.
Anyone who describes southerners with terms like "Cleetus" and "Earline" should be very happy in California. (Btw, the name "Earline" is mist definitely not confined to the group you think it is.)

Women and POC often move to the south because of the increased economic/career opportunities and growth. Plenty of women and POC are thriving and very happy and prosperous living in the south.
