Eh. I don’t think it’s necessarily ick. Usually when I see this dynamic, the older person just got divorced and is looking to feel young again, the young person just graduated college and is looking to feel “grown-up”.

Very, very rarely do they work out. They mess around for a few months and usually the younger person decides they’d rather have someone their own age, without all the baggage.

I went through this at 23. Dated a 45 year old, recently divorced man. It was exciting because he seems so mature and I thought he’d be everything men my age weren’t. But pretty quickly I got tired of his body (he was in decent shape, but 45 is still 45), I realized most 45 year olds aren’t even all that mature, and I definitely did NOT want the drama that would have come with being a stepmom to his kids. So we had fun, then I found a guy my own age.

If I got divorced (I’m 40), I could see myself having a fling with a 20 year old. But ultimately I’d get bored pretty quickly and want someone on my level.

But you are describing a mid-20s woman dating a mid-30s man. So, 25 and 35-ish? That's not creepy. 10 years when both partners are 25+ is fine. They're both adults.

I am your gf years down the road with kids. I married my husband with a 19 year age gap. Have had young men recently (open with husband not digressing this thread), so agree on that point too. lol. I technically don’t care.

Honestly 40 year olds men and women who are in shape are hot!! We as a society need to get that 40 isn’t what it use to be.

But it can work down the road and not at the same time. Like if the women hits her midlife crises (me) she’s not going to love that age gap anymore. Sorry but true! And even for the men. What if he also decides love my older woman but wow those women my age look better now? I also think it’s an issue of the couple but it soo depends. Although OP’s example is a small gap. 10 years isn’t that much??

There *is* a tipping point with ageless relationships.
One key is to know and feel the age of your partner' s soul. You know what I mean?
Another key is to embrace each other's desire and hunger for what each brings to the party.
Ultimately, judgment of any loving relationship based upon age, income, status, etc. is nothing more than a Western moralist ideology.
That being said,.there *is* a tipping point (I believe...just me...)

It isn't infantilizing women but, if you understood that you don't have the same life experience at age 23 than you would understand. Not to mention if there has been any dysfunction in their family which causes them to seek out father figures.
