Meh, read it how you want to. The first PP sounded a bit holier than thou with her four children. She's SO busy now she couldn't possibly drive 30 minutes for her kids' sports. (Which, by the way, is an issue that DCUM loves to jump on - then why would you have four kids? Your poor kids they never get to do anything! etc.). But if she only had one child, then of course she would do it. It was an odd post. If you read it differently then that's fine. Sure, no one should go around assuming the worst about people, but you also made a judgment that could have been left out. Do you see how you bothered to post about how angry/unkind/mean you think the PP is? Just saying that when you're pointing a finger at someone four are pointing back at you...

This was what happened to us when our DS1 was 7 and playing rec lacrosse (he’s now 20) it was a Burke, Va league but our “games” were at a school in Merrifield. By miles, it wasn’t far but it by time? Good luck finding all activities within a 5 minute walking distance

If I could do it over again, I should have saved my college and grad school tuition, raised funds to buy 250 acres of land, built a sports megapolis with 20 soccer/lax fields, 2 ice rinks, 2 50 meter x 25 yd pools, indoor turf fields, indoor multi space for fencing, volleyball, basketball, gymnastics training area, bar/restaurant and adult gym. Adjacent hotel/motel for tournaments. Houses would be built on the surrounding lots where kids could walk to their sport. And during the day, when kids are in school, all the indoor space would convert to pickleball courts for the seniors.

My daughter plays hockey - yes, let her try it! It's so fun. Then, when she gets totally obsessed, you can stress about the 40 minute drive to Rockville.

Lol I live in an exurb, so everything is minimum 20 min away. I’d think nothing of adding an extra ten.

Agree. The 30 min part is ok, but hard no to hockey. Way more driving than most sports. Plus, do you really want your 7 yr old playing a contact sport?
