Health will probably fill up quickly. The other classes likely will not.

Supposedly rising seniors (class of 2025) will have priority for the Health B spots.

On this note- it was being proposed that Health B would be free for the class of 2025. Does anyone know if that was approved? I didn’t see on the website.

It will not be at midnight because as another thread has stated, Synergy is down overnight for maintenance. In the past it has been noon, but I have not seen an announcement for this year.

They let everyone in last year.

I came to guess the same thing. Type A parents of 8th graders like me will be looking all morning. Kids who need to repeat English 11B don’t even know they need to repeat it yet and may not until May or so.

My kid did in person last year and I thought it was much better. The grades on the transcript might be the same, but I knew he was actually learning the material and dedicating the time needed when he was in the building. There was no way he would have been able to learn it independently- it's just not in his skill set yet!

Are the virtual courses from the central high school summer program considered equivalent to in person courses held in the regional programs at Seneca Valley, Richard Montgomery and Montgomery Blair High Schools? From what I see, the time spent ‘in class’ daily is different between in person option (4h 30 min) vs virtual option (1 h 15 min).

In the virtual option you are doing the assignments on your own additional time. The in person courses complete a lot of assignments during class time.

I wondered about that - thanks for the info. I know my kid would prefer virtual but I like the idea of getting all the work done on campus and calling it a day.

Yes they are the same from a transcript perspective.

For in person last year, kids were allowed 2 absences before they failed the class. You can’t be out sick for a week as that would cover too much material.

Missing 1/3 weeks is a big portion of the class. They say the online instructional sessions are mandatory, but I have heard that teachers can excuse 1 absence. As for the work, past experience has been that as long as all the work is in by the last day of class, it counts.
