I don't think about them too often but, I still dream about them.

I mean, I do think about them from time to time and hope they are well but I don't dwell on it.
I do check to see if one is still alive on social media occasionally as he is an alcoholic.

Honestly, a few times a year, I feel very sad that I am no longer in touch with my college boyfriend. I loved him, but not in a romantic way. He was a great friend, though, and I really cared about him. We stayed friends for 13 years after we broke up, but for some reason, even though it was 100 percent not physical or romantic at that point, his wife suddenly said she did not want him in contact with me, so now we no longer speak at all. We had such a good friendship for years after the breakup, and then he was gone from my life, for no clear reason.

Forget in what sense? I remember that they existed, and occasionally something will remind me of them. However, with the passage of a significant amount of time, and a new relationship that I am happy in, I am focused on the here and now.

Yes, with time.

I have one that has lived rent-free in my head for the last 25 years. I check out what she's doing from time to time, but I'll never reach out to her. That would spoil the romantic aspects of my daydreaming, and that's where the thoughts will stay.

Umm, think this is different than the typical example.

I think it depends on what a person's memory is like.
If you have great recall for events, people, places, emotions, etc. then you probably remember a great many people in your life. Even those "ships passing in the night" experiences. Those with this kind of recall would certainly remember all the loves in their life.
I vividly remember one guy - how I felt when he publicly expressed his love for me by grabbing me and planting a kiss. Then he held my hand and we were inseparable for a long time afterwards.
This happened in kindergarten.

Yes. I have pretty much forgotten several of them.
