Probably not just get if it is a daughter. 14 or 15 definitely yes.

If daughter is super confident, then maybe.

It’s not sexist. I’m a PP and said I let my son take it in middle school. He was big at 13 and now at 15 he's taller and bigger than DH. He looks like a grown man. I wouldn’t feel comfortable with my tiny 5’2 daughter alone in an Uber.


This is not sexist. My 14yo is 5’8” and taller than me (mom). I just started letting him take an Uber.

I have 3 kids. I’m not a single mom but Dh has a demanding job. I am often solo and with 3 kids who have to be at different places. When my youngest was younger, I had a sitter stay home with youngest while I drove older kids. Now my kids are old enough that I can leave my youngest with my middle or oldest child while I drive other kid.

My 14yo only recently started having activities ending so late in high school. Previously everything ended at a decent time. If your kid regularly ends at 10pm, this schedule does not work for your family. Ask your ex to help drive, get a sitter or carpool.


There is no reason why you or your husband cannot pick up your kids or get a sitter.


Pp here. Yes, my husband and I can pick up my kid. I have a husband and two kids who are old enough to stay home alone with youngest 6yo. My 6yo goes in the car sleepy to pick up older siblings sometimes but usually Dh or one older kid can be home with her.

In OP’s situation, I would tell my kid no to activity. 30 min at 10pm is really inconvenient.

The answer is no to activity. Unless your ex can step up and help drive or you can get a sitter, the answer would be no to activity.

My kid wanted to join this activity and team that was far and inconvenient and I knew we would have multiple conflicts with his siblings. I signed him up after he begged me. His friends drove him to and from most of the time. I host the most play dates and hang outs so I guess other families didn’t mind driving my kid. The one family who never ever hosts anyone is surprisingly very willing to drive my kid around.

Yes, we do. My 16 year old has Teen Uber. I am a single mom of 3. You gotta do what you gotta do.
It's not often, but when I have to run a few kids around in different directions and we can't find a carpool or a sitter, Teen Uber works and I watch them get there safely.
We live in the suburbs and the furthest I've used it is for a 10 min trip. The Uber driver is often the same guy and he has stories about moms putting their kids in the car for elementary school drop-offs because they just don't want to drive the 3 miles.
It's out of necessity that I use it, but I know the driver now and I feel that once every few months when I need to, it's fine.
