I get that they take in a lot of money in tuition, but they already have half the kids going for nothing. And they don't need the money. And they'll be able to get rid of a pretty large and expensive administrative department.
I think it will start as tuition only and within another few years, 5 or so other colleges will follow.
Nothing new here. Columbia is already free tuition for families making <$150,000.
only if you have under 200k in assets.
BINGO! Every one of these breathless announcements by the Ivies is followed by the particulars. the result is that the ignorant populace thinks that Ivy schools give great financial aid (because this crap is issued by their marketing offices) when, in reality, very few qualify
This really takes the cake when it comes to being a whiny baby. You have more than $150K in HHI and substantial assets and we are supposed to feel sorry for you?

DCUM would not approve, I see from these knee jerk negative reactions. Like always!
I agree this will happen at some point.
As an aside I am a Bronx Science alum. I took the test for Regis in the late 70’s. That test completely humbled me. Hats off to their Alums…
You don't take people's money and a lot of things change. You can take the best. Period. You can expect a lot. You don't have customers or clients anymore. You have people who can lose their scholarship (ie get the boot). Those calls from parents demanding this and that would vanish. A culture of gratitude would replace a culture of entitlement.
There is enormous upside.
100% this.

I can tell you that you are naive on this point....either that or I just happen to know the most selective families at Princeton (and I doubt this)
