OK. Democracy is over in that scenario, what then? No, elections, etc. What do people do then?
I'm pp...look to China. Military parades. Arresting journalists. Giving govt contracts to those with most clout. Shutting out foreigners from business deals, with little recourse. Jailing businessmen when they irk a party member. Extreme force with protestors. Rampant propaganda.
The masses will be forced to worry about their little black book (i.e. infractions that may be used against them at any time), increased surveillance, harm from goods that aren't regulated, the restriction to travel freely, and on.
Be forewarned.
I'm as anti-Trump as anyone and agree that Trump can take awfulness to unprecedented levels but what you're saying is hogwash hysteria that only makes us anti-Trumpers seem out of sync with reason. Fortunately, our Federal Government was set up with a system of checks and balances that would never let one person have the power to go to such extremes. Acknowledge that and be thankful.
Agree. The po you responded to sounds like a Russian/Chinese troll using scare tactics on people. The hyperbole is unreal.
The constitution doesn’t have magical powers. Our checks and balances are only as strong as our willingness to abide by them.
The checks ands balances have the force of law behind them. They aren't optional.

That doesn’t answer the question at all. Unless you’re saying Ds will just lay down and take it.

IMO the GOP will stop focusing on Trump if he does. Otherwise, it will be Biden v. Trump 2.0 and Biden will likely lose. He "got us into war" (GOP talking point), and he's "too old" (everyone under 40). Biden will be 100% responsible for Trump burning down the country.
Too many fragile male egos around that ignore focus on the common good when the stakes are sky high. Let other GOP and Dems duke it out.
Biden all but said yesterday that he is in the race to beat Trump. So if Trump somehow isn't the GOP nominee, then it is possible if not probably, that Biden would step aside. I don't know if that means Harris would too (not likely) but it is what it is.

Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:You could find a better candidate now. I don’t think Trump would win if you picked someone else but Biden is terrible and is in physical and mental decline. A lot of people would be ok with some of the same policies but it feels irresponsible to reelect him. I heard someone say no one would even consider renewing his contract if he were CEO of a company and that is 100 percent true. It doesn’t mean voting for him 3 years ago was bad or wrong but things have changed.. he has changed… and for most people it feels really irresponsible to vote for him again.
If Biden remains the candidate, it would be irresponsible to not vote for him, considering the alternative.
That said, his deciding to run again at 81 years old was the height of arrogance and irresponsibly.
If Biden stays in the race and becomes the nominee, which is very likely at this point, he does have a 50/50 chance of beating Trump. If Trump somehow doesn't become the GOP nominee, Biden would have slim chances against most of the other GOP potential candidates. The best Dems can hope for is Trump becoming the GOP nominee as that would give Biden the best chances at being re-elected and a Trump nomination would also provide for a relatively easy path to victory for any other Dem nominee should Biden change his mind and back out of the 2024 race.
