As an overweight 20 something I didn't require someone with a big job or money. But I'd be grossed out if a much older man wanted to get with me. Fortunately only guys in their 20s too. As a slim 40 yr old I'm way more picky.

Women in their 20s date for what’s in it for them. They only want someone with a big job and lots of money. An older woman has experienced life. They are more mellow, more realistic. They are better companions and not freeloaders full of unrealistic expectations for the guy to produce.

I would imagine another appealing aspect of it is "the challenge". It's a lot easier to impress a girl your own age than it is to get the attention of a woman who's 35, attractive, and probably dating men in a similar income or life range. You'd have to have superior conversational skills or bring something else to the table. Which is why I suspect a lot of the Hollywood guys who have younger girls falling at their feet will only go for older women- it's not as easy which may be the appeal.

If they really are relationship oriented, maybe they figure an older woman would also be relationship oriented vs. looking for something more casual like a woman their age might want. But I do think it’s a thing and becoming more of a thing. I have 3 female friends who are divorced, 2 with a kid 1 not, and all are on their 2nd marriages with guys 7-10 years younger. So usually late 30s woman/early 30s or late 20s guy. The guys are all stable and family oriented but not necessarily high earners.

That's true and the conversation is better. I can remember being in my 20s and feeling sick of the conversation/focus being on who was hooking up with who, what bar we were going to, how drunk Larla got at the club last night, etc. There can be something really lovely and comforting and just RELAXED about an older, more settled energy, and oftentimes they have cool stories/have lived life. If something is physically attractive AND they have that more mature quality to them it's truly a win win
