I only know one girl who is currently at UT and she was a C student OOS. Went to private and didn’t have anything amazing on her transcript or anything extra . Loves the downtown life. We visited on game day and it was amazing. I hope you like orange. It’s a lot of orange! My DS left wanting to go but in the end decided on a diff school.

I agree. Besides, no one in their right mind would ever confuse a school as good as Texas with Tennessee, but Tennessee has rebranded themselves UTK. So you’ll have to take that up with them.

A freshamn we know there that came from a pretty diverse high school said he was taken a back at the use of the N word "with the hard R" and not used ironically. He's a white boy from Virginia so maybe assumptions were made that they could say that around him?
UTK is very high on my kid’s list and this is the biggest concern.
I flat out would disregard the troll. We live in an age where every brunt is taped. If there is no documented evidence greater chance someone just trashing a school because there are people hating that southern schools are thriving

UTK is very high on my kid’s list and this is the biggest concern.
It's a fair concern. I know one AA female who matriculated there from Florida (not Miami, but not the sticks, either) within the last five years and was shocked the casual misogyny and racism she experienced at UTK. She personally was called a B at least weekly and a C and N at least monthly (the N often in combination with the B), and heard the same epithets hurled at others much more regularly. She loved the rah rah at the school, but never felt truly welcome there.
I’m sorry to hear that. As we start to look at schools, trying to figure how to see the most accurate, every day picture when tiktok and Instagram seem to have taken over in terms of influence. I get talking with students is key but not always the easiest to do.
