My cousin married a man who is a tribal leader and they celebrate Thanksgiving, because it’s a holiday about being grateful, and they are smart enough to know they aren’t celebrating the harm that was caused to native Americans.

Don’t forget the obligatory turkey emoji OP.

Happy Thanksgiving! 🦃

Look Thanksgiving is a time to be grateful for everyone you're with. I don't think it's too much of a effort to wish somebody a Happy Thanksgiving to lighten up their day at least. I get it it's hard being grateful for the holidays but it's that time of year to try to do that I think even as far as going the extra mile to do that. Friendships are just as important as family to be grateful for in your life. I'm sorry to say this but that's considered a horrible thing not to do it. I'm not saying text everybody but at least make them feel appreciated. Just a lesson for you to learn.

Wipe that look off your face. They only text because they’re worried about you.

This is the OP. I’m not upset about it, it’s just annoying. I’m sure I’m not the only one annoyed by this.

I do respond in kind to those who send me these lame texts, but I never initiate. I don’t have the heart to tell my friends how lame their Happy Thanksgiving texts are, so I guess this will continue on until….whenever.

But you have no problem telling others how lame they are.

I thought you said you could save them the energy by telling them how lame they are?

You should tell them. They should know how much you appreciate them.

Well the native Americans were the first hosts, so why wouldn't they celebrate it? It's a celebration of the first Thanksgiving, not a celebration of the relationship between the settlers and the Native Americans or the final outcome.

If I had such a negative view of the world as the anti-Thanksgiving crowd, I would have a hard time getting out of bed every day.

I don't send them but I do respond kindly to them, thanking my friends for thinking of me. I would never tell my friends or relatives their well wishes are lame. It doesn't annoy me to get them either and you actually may be the only one annoyed by this.

All that complicated Thanksgiving detail you included is irrelevant by the way. People are just being thankful for each other mostly. You might want to try to redirect your emotions into a positive outlet.
