DS just sent me a link for a book, “Jow not to be a dick.” Pretty funny actually.

LOL, these are the sorts of things my parents said to my two sisters and me over the years. We sat by and took it, patiently waiting for them to grow up. They never did.

Sigh. Where did the three of us go wrong with them?

I wish my grandparents had nipped this shit in the bud when my parents were under their roofs. It really sucks to be the child of perpetually mean, teen-like parents. Please support your teen in outgrowing their mean behavior. They may do the same to your grandchildren one day.

Because she didn’t take sh*t. Didn’t take back talk. Had a death stare. Did this surreptitious Vulcan hold that no one could see in public but it hurt. 😂 But mostly she never said mean things like that to me, my siblings or our father, so it was not normalized. I’m talking about things like “I hate you” and “I’m cutting you off” etc. Not things like, you’re so lame and you listen to bad music. That’s pretty benign. But if I had told my mother to shut up or that I hated her…. I shudder to think of what I would have suffered!

My 14 yo daughter says things like that too. I'm not too bothered (I actually laugh at these remarks will say/do something ridiculous or embarassing in response-ha). Hopefully this is as bad as it gets!

I breathe too loudly, chew too loudly and also have bad breath, Yay me!
