I don't know about parents or grandparents but siblings and friends often help each other with surprise birthdays, bachelorette parties and weddings so why not proposals? Everyone doesn't have a fortune to spend on hired talent.

This^. From looking at videos of proposals in my social media feed, wedding coordinators probably do proposal coordination as well. There is no way seemingly clueless 28 year old IT guy or 35 year old dentist can arrange top notch Instagram worthy proposals.

If they didn't ask, you shouldn't butt in.

On the other hand, if they did ask.. well, you should still do your best to stay out of it, as this is truly between them.
