Which is why I called them safeties.
Muhlenberg as a safety. We were very impressed with campus, academics and honors programs. Would have considered Juniata, but major wasn't offered. Her high stats friend applied to SMCM. You need to outmatch your safety academically in order for it to be a safety.

F&M and Lafeyette are very similar to Bucknell and Lehigh.

My DC (1600 SAT) had a wonderful experience at Denison.

The acceptance rate is below 20% but I’m surprised no one has mentioned Denison. It’s a very collaborative school and is similar to a lot of these others listed.

My DC is a recent Kenyon graduate and I'd definitely describe the school vibe as "mellow and supportive". I don't think I'm in a position to advise you on your DC's chances -- and I'm not even sure that's what you're looking for -- but do want to encourage you and your DC to focus on Kenyon and similar schools. My DC had a great experience there with excellent teaching, good friends and so much growth in intellectual curiosity, maturity and empathy for others. She has a great job now in the field of her choice and she is grateful for her time at Kenyon.

I know this isn’t a SLAC, but have a large school (UMD) on the list. Focusing on his academics (35 ACT) and vibe (supportive and mellow), I would encourage you to visit Tulane. It sounds like it could be a match. My smart kid really wanted a friendly, cooperative academic experience and loved the vibe as soon as she toured.
