The average age for a mom in DC is like 29. Which yes is a lot older than the national average but holy cow some of y’all run around in old circles apparently. Widen your net. Becoming a FTM at 40 is *fine* but definitely not normal or anywhere close to average.

The oldest moms were 42 and 43 when the kids were born, but for both of them it was kid #4. The oldest dads were in their early 50s with much younger second wives.

I was 35 when I had my first. I was in a baby play group with him and the two moms with whom I became to closest were a (then) 28 year old and (then) 44 year old. This was in a close-in suburb.

I was 43 when I had my first and only. I felt like an outsider a lot of the time, but when my kid finally went to elementary school a lot of the moms were my age. They might have been on their third or fourth kid, but they were my age.

I have a 7 year old (youngest) and am 47. It's fine. Most parents are younger than me but I am youthful, they have no idea how old I am.

I have 3 kids - that I had when I was 27, 30, and 33. I am 42 now.

I'm a few years younger for people who have freshman and I am a few years older for people who have 3rd graders

Most of our group started about 7 years ago and are leaving babies and toddlers behind.

Depends. In wealthier circles "young" moms are having their first at 35 and many moms are having babies at mid 40s or even 50.
That skews downward significantly in less wealthy circles.

If you're going to present this as fact (which it isn't), at least bring some proof.

Some people don’t age well.

DH and I are 45 and fit. I don’t have to dye my hair yet and DH has all his hair. We know parents our age who are already gray or balding. I work out daily. Some women are older than me and still look fabulous. I was shocked to learn one mom was 50. She is super fit and looks amazing. Others just look old and I wouldn’t ask their age.

I am 39 and I have 3 kids (10, 8 and 4.5). I have always been the youngest by far in my eldest class. Still among the youngest in my middle child’s class and average in my youngest child class.

Private schools so I guess parents skew older…
I was referred to as “a baby” more than once by parents in my life eldest child class (I had her at 29 so hardly a teen mom)

I had my first kid at 35. My oldest mom friend with kids the same age had her first at 45, and my youngest at 25. So there is a 20 year age span across friends and I'm right in the middle. Our kids all just left for college!

Very tiresome

How very fortunate of you to meet your partner at a younger age, not deal with infertility issues (I’m sure you realize these aren’t always tied to age), not experience pregnancy loss, etc.

In real life, no one cares how old you are. If you get to know people, you may learn about how the dad was divorced before or if mom miscarried or the kid was an IVF baby. You usually hear about this way after you know the family.

We are busy with our lives. Some classmate’s mom’s age is so far down on my thought list. I really don’t care. If our kids get along, great, we can plan a play date.
