Subject: When do clothing issues become neglect?
CPS will not get involved. My kid runs hot and wears shorts and a tee all winter. I got a couple of angry emails from his teacher but that was it.

I've tried! He takes it right out if he notices before he leaves. I don't want it to become a battle of wills.
In my opinion this behavior is actually a problem. Carrying a jacket in his backpack is a perfectly reasonable compromise. If he refuses to follow such a simple rule that doesn’t impact him at all, and you let him get away with it, you’ve already lost the battle of wills. Plus your parental authority.

Hello !! I'm not a parent but a child and I'm probably in the wrong place but I had a question. My parents won't let me wear a jacket in hot weather because they think it'll look like I'm hiding scars but I just am insecure about my arms, so is that a normal fear to have or should I just wear a jacket? (Some people with probably say to tell them about my insecurity but I have and they don't care so it wouldn't do much)

There is a big difference between a kid who refuses to wear a coat / long sleeves and neglect.
I previously worked in education and I had to wear summer clothes in the winter, because the older building was kept so hot and only the county had control of the temperature.

You might be surprised at how HOT it can be in school, on the bus, etc. At my old school, teachers couldn't change the temp (each classroom had a lock over the thermostat) and I often wore short sleeves in winter.
