When I had a three year old boy, he kept me busy from 5:30am-9:00pm. If I was lucky there was a short nap.

I know tons of moms who wfh without childcare. I could never do it but some people do it! When I used to work from home people would ask why I had childcare.
The people who WFH without childcare for a 3 yo are either not working from home or not taking care of their child. You cannot do both. Just parking a child in front of a screen for hours is not parenting and not taking care of the child. I get that some people have to do it, but it is not good.

Did you ignore all communication for 2 days? I call BS. Everyone is glued to their phones. No one is not looking at their phone for more than a few hours. We are in year 2023.
Yep. No one ignores their phone for that long. What if your traveling wife had an emergency?
Op here. We returned last night and everything was fine. The house was a complete mess. I asked the neighbor to check on them. The younger one got into all kinds of stuff. He had my work badge hidden and he drew on the walls.
It seems he was roaming the house while Dh was in meetings. Dh said he was singing the ABCs during a video chat 😆 I asked him if it was hard and he said it was totally fine. He doesn't like to admit things are hard. After he ate the special food I brought him I made him vacuum. There were full meals all over the dining rug. One guy said he was busy cleaning while his wife was away. That would only happen in my dreams.
I don't think he even knows it was hard.

Op here he has not responded since yesterday afternoon. Going a day and a half without communication is very unusual.
Perhaps he is seething inside that he could not take the trip w/you.
Or perhaps he is angry that you took the trip.
Or he could be just annoyed that he is stuck at home….caring for a three-yr. old.
Something is definitely bothering him.
I would just enjoy the rest of your trip w/your five yr old then discuss this matter when you return home.

When I'm away from home, it's a break. To enjoy that break, I need to feel free of the usual things going on at home. If it's a short time, and no crisis, I'd like to be left alone. That's how I honestly feel.

You guys had no childcare for a three-year old while your husband worked for two days? And why was he working all weekend? And you had to have a neighbor go check on them to see if they were alive but you're commenting about food on the rug? Better luck next time.
