Yes, don’t rule out Utah. I’m on the west coast and dancers with your daughter’s profile from my child’s school and studio go to Utah every year. SMU is another one that she should not take off the list. I think dance is an area where you really should focus on getting acceptances first and deciding based on geography second.

But with her stats she could do much better.

The dance program is also highly selective and the honors college supports double majors. If she’s studying biology because she wants to go to med school, Utah is a very good choice.

The stats you cited are not impressive. Note the 80% acceptance rate. Also highly LDS.

I haven’t read the prior posts and you won’t get merit and it’s far but UCLA doesn’t look at test scores, cap the number of AP courses considered and its dance program is amazing. Something to think about.

Dickinson has merit and a Cpyb scholarship.

Muhlenberg has merit and performing arts scholarships.

Very small department in terms of teaching - most of the instructors are p/t
which points at under-funding

If willing to go to MA, I think the five colleges are really worth checking out. UMass-Amherst has a really nice dance program and the consortium there is just such a unique opportunity.

She wants to go into conservation work. Utah is too far and too conservative for her but I agree it looks like a great program. One of DD’s dance mentors was on the faculty at Utah and left due to the lack of diversity and inclusion. That was many years ago though so it may be different now.

It’s different now. It’s not New York, but it’s also far from BYU. The honors college and the dance program have a national draw and neither are politically or culturally conservative. That element can be found if you seek it out, but it’s not the dominant culture.

BFA, highly selective. Can you double with a BFA? I mean, it’s possible, but most have to kill themselves to do it-maxing credits, summer school, etc. Plus, doubles in dance BFA and a science are even harder because rehearsals and labs conflict frequently

Goucher and UMBC are suburban Baltimore, so not right in the city

I had mentioned Drexel, but that is in Philly downtown, so maybe nix that.

Towson has a very strong dance program, but is BFA only. Too bad, as it would be in state.

I really think the liberal arts schools are your best bet - many of them are test optional and their merit is based on GPA.

If I were you, I’d look closely at Hofstra and Muhlenberg. I have heard Hofstra is actually pretty generous with merit aid.
