Kids are high school age. Work ends at 4, and I wouldn't be care giving every day, just the occassional need OP talked about.

I have a kid in high school right now I'd be really sad to miss dinner with him frequently, miss things like games, school plays, music performances, etc. Unless I was really desperate for money to put a roof over our head and food on the table, it just wouldn't be worth it.

Well that's the "thing." I actually HAVE had to work at second job before. What OP is proposing wouldn't help someone who NEEDS the money. It's few hours, and random/not on a set schedule. The person accepting this job won't be able to depend on the money to pay bills.

In my case, I would pick up tutoring jobs after school, when my own children were doing their own afterschool clubs or sports. Please don't think I was working because I didn't want to spend time with my kids, or my husband.

But don't you see that there are both kinds of people who exist at the same time? People who need a full time job or full time second job to pay for the basic necessities of life, and people who work for some extra money, but don't absolutely need it? Not every job needs to be for every person, right?

I'm not saying that there will be a ton of people interested in working for OP's kind of set-up, but there certainly could be someone.

Maybe, consider, that everyone’s lives are different. Maybe a divorced parent who wants to fill their time when the kids are with the other parent. Maybe kids are older teens who drive themselves to their after school activities, etc. Maybe just live and let live.
