We really liked W & M when visiting schools. Thought it it was pretty and just a really nice size. But we are in MD. Ooof. Tuition too high for us.

Being ranked 212 out of 400 seems unjustified given the venerable history of the school and the emphasis on undergraduate teaching. I don't get it.

There are quite a few excellent schools that do very poorly in the WSJ ranking (versus USNWR). For example, Tufts comes in at 287 and Tulane is at 354. Even some of the very solid big publics do very poorly -- Pitt, for example, at 307.

Yes. It seems like the most recent USNEWS rankings have also downgraded expensive, but perhaps solid schools, who don’t make the school more affordable with aid.

W&M is failing in its reputation and ranks. It’s just not the school it use to be, sadly.

W&M is a very good school and a very good deal. No one pays any attention to the WSJ rankings. And pretty soon no one will pay any attention to USNWR.
