If you say "more guns" then that's what's already been done for decades, and it hasn't worked.
How about an ACTUAL proposal?
And if you don't have an actual proposal, then maybe you should STFU and sit down.
So let's hear it.... give me a serious proposal, or STFU and sit down.

Still crickets. You Republicans are a shameful disgrace and the senseless deaths of countless thousands of Americans is on your heads. All you have done is make the problem worse.

The Sheriff is scared. He is afraid that the gun nuts will start shooting his officers if they try to take their guns away. He's probably right.

Article II - Bill of Rights
§ 6 Right to bear arms.
Universal Citation: NM Const art II § 6
No law shall abridge the right of the citizen to keep and bear arms for security and defense, for lawful hunting and recreational use and for other lawful purposes, but nothing herein shall be held to permit the carrying of concealed weapons. No municipality or county shall regulate, in any way, an incident of the right to keep and bear arms. (As amended November 2, 1971 and November 2, 1986.)
Except the problem is that the guns she is concerned about are being used for crime, which is not covered under security, defense, lawful hunting and recreational purposes et cetera.
And, you think that the criminals are just going to forget about carrying around their firearms because of her order?
If criminals are going to carry guns then they are going to carry guns - and that will make the criminals a hell of a lot easier to spot. Except now we have idiots like the Bernalillo Sheriff who wants criminals to be allowed to carry guns.
Please tell me you are really not this dumb?Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:New Mexico Constitution

Security - are you police? If not then what is your legitimate role in carrying guns in public?
Defense - are you military? If not then what is your legitimate role in carrying guns in public?
Want a gun to defend your home, fine, but outside of that, it is not your role.
And if you are carrying a gun in a populated area then you are clearly not legally hunting or using it for recreation.

Did she say open carry, concealed carry, or not distinguish?

Join the military and you will have that right, as the Founders intended.

Then the next person to get shot in Bernalillo County will be the direct fault of the Sheriff.
No. It will be the fault of the shooter or the recipient. But not the Sheriff.
The shooting wouldn't have happened if the gun curfew were enforced, so YES the Sherriff is responsible.

Well? We're waiting, Republicans.... Where is your serious proposal to deal with violent gun crime?
To Republicans it's not a gun problem...it's a mental health problem. But just because a "good guy with a gun" has no mental health issues now is no guarantee that they'll have no mental health issues in the future (and they'll still own that gun).
Canada, the UK, Australia, Japan all have mental health issues just like us...but you know what they don't have?
And... the Republicans don't actually want to do anything about mental health, either. They've repeatedly cut funding and attacked anything geared toward treating mental illness.
The "we don't have a gun problem, we have a mental health problem" is nothing but an empty deflection from the GOP.
If anything, with nonsense like that, and that Republicans accept and repeat that obvious-BS line, one has to conclude that the mental health problem is widespread within the GOP itself.
