Subject: People who sign their kids up and then don’t show up

Hoping this isn’t a trend throughout the season. I know it’s only little kid rec, but it isn’t fair to the kids who show up and then have to play 40 minutes of soccer. The other team didn’t have that issue, so they were much more energized.
A lot of times this is because a group of friends sign up and they also have the same conflict - birthday party/other sports game/school event. So you get a cluster effect.
People think that they can just skip a game. That's not fair to others and shows lack of commitment. Yes it's rec, but people still expect you to show up. Do one sport in a season. There's nothing wrong with down time.

Anonymous wrote:You don't really request fields in that way for MSI 1st grade rec. They split a small field into two for a game which involves two mini-games. You can just play on one of the fields or reduce the number of players per team or borrow players as other PPs suggested.

The majority of kids that age would be thrilled to get to play the whole time. Does your coach know your child doesn’t like to play the whole time?
I think strategies like borrowing a player or playing 3 on one game are fine if the coach knows a kid needs it, but moving to one field so all the kids get less than 20 minutes seems unfair.
