6 hours? Are you trying to get a blood clot? Where are you driving to, Argentina?

somebody has to pee every couple hours.

limit their drink to water to extend the time.

and loosen up. it's ok to stop to pee.

I was having flashbacks to MY dad! It felt so mean when I had to pee so badly and he was a jerk about it and wouldn’t stop.

This. My father was an a** and enjoyed the power.

Can your car even go 6 hours without a stop for gas or recharging? We get decent milage but would be pretty low by then.

I would make everyone try to go any time we stop, but if someone really needs to go again, we would. I have IBS and am the most likely to need a rest stop anyway!

2 hours -2.5 hrs max. Then we stop. I hand out water at 1.25 hrs so they can hydrate.

As often as needed.

My policy is designated stops for food and drink and we stop for gas. I run a tight ship we get there on time when I drive.

You don't "run a tight ship", PP, you're abusive.

We do a ton of road trips and tend to stop every two hours or so. We stop at rest stops, coffee shops, occasionally little towns to walk around. We used to stop at playgrounds when our kid was younger.

I think stopping every 3-4 hours for a short rest stop is completely reasonable but it’s your prerogative.

3-4 hours, if we're going by my needs. I try to think ahead and make combined stops -- bathroom and gas, bathroom and lunch.

My husband will insist he needs to stop an hour before lunch to get gas, and it makes me nuts. Maybe my dad rubbed off on me, because while I don't have The Holy Mission of Making Good Time on a road trip, someone had better be sick if we're stopping more than every three hours.

We stop when we need gas or every 4 hours. We do a lot of long road trips. When kids are sleeping we do 6 hours. Whenever we stop everyone has to use the bathroom. No exceptions.
