He found my 15 yr old son hanging out with a 14 yr old girl he is friends with in our basement. At the moment, the girl was downstairs and my son was in kitchen getting water, snacks.
The story is she was returning my daughter’s shoes and had just arrived. The shoe mix up is true. They had gotten mixed up with hers the evening before when I let him have friends over a few hours, but there was no reason for a middle of the night exchange!
My son is losing his phone for a few days, and grounded, but I’m concerned this Freshman girl was out at all all hours. She is probably a mile away and must have walked! We would have called her parents, driven her home but she ran out! I got her # from my son’s phone and confirmed she is ok.
Should I try to let her parents know or just worry about my own kid?
What makes you think her parents have any right to know?

Totally think my son is just as guilty and I would not want him walking around alone in the middle of the night either. That said, he’s a year older and 6’2, so he is less at risk.
I did not know the girl’s last name but got it from my son and tracked her parents down on Facebook. They were super appreciative.

Please tell her parents so they can deal with the situation on their end!
Teens are impulsive and sometimes stupid…sigh….
How do you know that? Girls can be very aggressive. She was at his house.
Ummm…who do you think opened either a door or a window to let her in…..
Ummm..what would you do if you have a friend knocking on your front door? let them in or what? and you are a grown ass adult with maybe some maturity. We can all construct stories but the girl does sound a bit crazy walking about in the middle of the night. I would get the contact of her parents and warn them, the next time she might not get lucky and run into something dangerous.
You must be a mom of boys.
How do you know the boy didn’t go get her, how do you know they weren’t walking around all night together with others? How do you know he isn’t peer pressuring her to be a cool freshman and break the rules just this once?
To sit here and only place blame on the girl is ridiculous. Teens do dumb things. I did dumb things as a teen. I snuck out multiple times and told my parents I was sleeping over someone’s house and vice versa. A lot of it involved approval of older boys and trying to be labeled cool and popular. And it didn’t involve sex. Just hanging out and feeling like we were living on the edge I guess. I think once we all shared a 6 pack someone older brother got. I am a lawyer now so I guess I didn’t ruin my life sneaking out in high school.
So yes, definitely tell the parents and make them aware. Hopefully they won’t go ape shit and point fingers at your son like this PP is to the girl, but he is just as much as fault. They both made dumb decisions.
DP that is jumping through a lot of hoops not to blame the girl. Oh the girl is not to blame because the boy mights have broken in to her house, picked her up like the caveman he is and brought her back to his house to make a snack for her at 4 am? Oh the poor girl had nothing to do with this because she was just trying to be cool by hanging around a boy one year old in a boy’s house at 4 am!
This is why you would never tell the parent of the girl because the mom of a girl parent will always blame the boy. The pp is a lawyer and will most likely have you or your boy arrested if you call to tell her her girl was found at your house at 4 am.
