Charlotte's Web. Which would also be easy reading for an 8th grader but is a very good book that I would consider a classic.
The Little House on the Prairie books.
I suppose the Harry Potter books would not be considered classic books because they were only published about 20 years ago. But they are well written and many kids that age love them.
They are not well written. The prose is horrific. The storyline is wonderful and that is what saves them.

Will try to think of others. They may be neweberry award winners and not classics
If she’s a strong reader these might be too easy for an eighth grader. My fifth grader read and enjoyed a few of these this year and last.

At your daughter’s age, I read “Anne Frank: The Diary Of A Young Girl.”
It made a huge impact on me as well as gave me a brief history lesson too.

Some Already listed but I would recommend:
- Catcher in the Rye
- Jack London (anything but I loved Martin Eden)
- something Shakespeare
- a modern classic graphic novel like Maus or Persepolis
