We recently inherited 2 mil (this is after taxes). We are still both maxing our retirement contributions but if we needed the money we could stop or just invest up to the match. We will also have pensions of over 200k/year and have over 1.5 in retirement currently.

We mainly keep contributing because of the tax break but we will be fine in retirement.

Don't expect anything. I was promised that much and it's not going to happen. Never planned for it as until its in my name its meaningless.

I don't count on my inheritance (likely to be about $2-$3M) although I'd be lying if it wasn't in the back of my mind. I still max out retirement.

Never count your chickens before they hatch. Old age can be painfully expensive and suck millions from expected inheritance.

I am ignoring future inheritance (anywhere from $5-10m depending on my parents whims) and saving normally.
