Where? What firm or independent? What seniority level? Consulting starting comps are not very high at all

I've been at a big consulting firm, a midsize boutique firm, and now have my own boutique firm. I have an MBA from a top school. I am way beyond starting salary level. But even at my midsize boutique, 10-12 years ago, I was over $400k. Now I am well over that.

What type of consulting? Tech related, government contract related, mergers, re-org? What pays these days? I can't educate my younger family as it was many years since I did this, it was lucrative back then ages ago, but in niche tech fields. Now, it got commoditized (especially with outsourcing) and I would not recommend my out of college family to pursue similar paths. I have a college grad living with us looking for jobs from a good school.. They say cybersecurity is hot, but I think it will go the way of older IT/data/BI consulting as it gets gradually commoditized with more people entering the field and having access to learning material without landing a job first.
