Please describe how Democrats hobbled MPD. They have more money than they've ever had and have chosen to enforce fewer things on top of that. We have one of the largest per capita police forces in the country.

DC youth who only get a slap on the wrist and are released the same day after committing violent felonies do 2 things:
- they tell all their friends and family what a joke DCs criminal justice system has become and,
- they are right back at it committing more crimes the same day.
The council has broken DC’s system and ruined the MPD for the foreseeable future.
What a joke it is the Council now want the national Guard to clean up the mess THEY created.

We're not gun owners, but it's a shame when people don't have the maturity and self-control to use guns responsibly and not engage in criminal activity. Millions do.
It only takes a few bad apples to ruin the entire barrel of apples. You should have recognized that fact before pushing against every possible common-sense reform that would have made it harder for the bad apples.
PP here. My husband and I are in favor of more gun control; however, we know many people who own guns and don't commit crimes. It's sad that we need stricter laws because of those who have poor impulse control, commit crimes and have no regard for others' lives.

Fines are not enforced against drivers from MD or VA, there is no reciprocity for DC. Even re: DC drivers, few penalties for non-payment, can still renew DL w/outstanding fines and they are NEVER reported to collection agencies/credit bureaus. Drivers cannot get points from camera violations.
