Your community must be outside of the city. I live 20007/20016 and the only expensive looking cars are 'for hire' or government cars.
Nobody cares for the big cars. We all know most houses are 2.5-4 million here. No need for Yukon to show off.

My rent is $1200 for a 1bd apartment. I could have rented an apartment in a more upscale building for $2200 like others and driven a Honda Civic. I prefer to pay a cheap rent and drive a Porsche Cayenne.

Not for people who need to move frequently for work or who refuse high interest rates. Renting actually makes sense right now.
However, the car is stupid. OP should keep the one bed, and invest his savings in stocks so that he can be wealthy later. This is what I did, and now I'm in my 40s with 15M. No family help and a middle class income. But only if you're not stupid.
Me again. My goal is creating generational wealth for my kids. This is why I don't mind not spending all my money, driving a basic car and living in a small house. The sacrifices have a point.

I am frustrated by the price of cars but there is nothing I can do about it.
I want a Toyota Land Cruiser. The few used ones out there (old style) are super overpriced in decent shape. Option (only) is the 100k Lexus lx.
Do I want to spend 100k on a car? No, but I want a nice car that can go off road. Not many to choose from. It sucks to put 50l down and still have a 1k payment and huge annual tax bill in va.

I know a guy who makes $160 and who felt compelled to buy a $110k Lexus. It's nuts.
So many driving $50-80k+ cars don't really make all that much and love to have a stupid image. Or they lease because they can't really afford it.
This is exactly why so many people have garbage 401ks and retirement savings. So many idiots on the road with $1000+ per mo car payments..And that's co my completely ignoring insurance payments on top of it. Cars these days are such a massive waste of money.

I can but won't buy an expensive car. Its a depreciating asset and I'm not interested in cars or showing off. I would rather invest or spend extra money on family and travel. Giving parents a peaceful retirement or kids a good private debt free education is a better use in my opinion.
Everything you spend money on doesn't have to be an appreciating asset.
You spend money on travel instead. Travel isn't an appreciating asset. It's not even an asset. The money is all gone the moment you spend it. At least I could sell the car a few years later and get some money back.
If you are looking at it from an asset angle, spending the money on a car is a much better deal.
