Not an Asian but know that neither of the three likes to be identified in the same group as the others and generally look down upon the other Asians.


kind of like German, French, British, but they are Europeans.

Here's a term I learned on this forum - Jungle Asian. That would be Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam. I guess the difference is cultural expectations, aspirations and education levels.

1: The Supreme Court won't allow universities to use race or ethnicity anymore
2: The Common App has made receiving that data optional
3: No university is ever going to touch that data again. There is line of lawyers wrapped around the building just dying for a crack

So JMU won't know if Brian Smith is POC or not.

It is you who has been living under the rock. The schools will continue to look at race - the identifying box is gone but it can now be raised in the essays which was in Roberta’s dicta. That’s what all the schools have done. Go look at some sample essays

JMU folks are not necessarily "above" GMU and VCU, but that is the current admission reality right now. Right now, it is harder to get admitted to JMU than to GMU/VCU. Sorry that bothers you.

The acceptance rate for GMU is 90%. The acceptance rate for JMU is 77%. The acceptance rate for VCU is 91%.

JMU rejects more applicants and is a little harder to get into than GMU and VCU.
