I lived in Tenleytown in the early 90s, and it was a shitshow when JR got out then. Tenleytown is way fancier now.

Probably an unpopular opinion but I truly could not care less about J6 and white collar crime when people are getting shot on the streets everyday. Safety of residents come first. Prosecute those items too but when they become the main focus while people are shooting each other left and right, something is wrong.

Our elected leaders do not give a shit about crime. No one gets prosecuted for anything in DC. That’s why crime now is the worst it’s been in a generation.

I prefer Tenleytown, even in the afternoon with school kids around. I like energy and they have that in spades. I prefer it to the “self selected retirement community” (or similar phase used by the city planners to describe Friendship Heights) with its empty storefronts. Really looking forward to the Mazza redevelopment. It does suck that there’s no coffee shop in Tenley since Starbucks and Bourbon Coffee left. And that the Target is all locked down. Ya l do wish the teenagers were more respectful of the businesses like Starbucks and Target but l also have no idea how to make that happen.

Target is locked up because of major theft rings, not JR kids. Straight from the mouths of Target employees. See the laundry detergent locked up for proof of this.

I’m the poster you replied to. Thanks l was not aware of these theft rings, googled it and it’s a National problem, not just a DC problem

So the PP is the mom of JR students? OP - do ask each and every business around JR their opinion on this topic that PP raises. Ask the librarians across the street. Ask the Metro workers. Due diligence from independent sources will educate you on JR and its impact on Tenlytown.

Like clockwork, the racists emerge.

I am _classist_ and a neighbor of JR and Deal. I loathe the after school hour around CVS. Occasionally I will succumb and watch the shoplifting train wreck anyway while I’m waiting for a prescription. Then I head home past the drug dealers hanging in the bushes around the “vape” store. So vibrant!

No you're racist. You have no black or brown freinds at all.

Idk about OP but even an average black or brown person feels unsafe around criminal elements no matter what their race is.

The crime was between criminals, they didn't want to bother the rest of us and therefor bring cops etc down on the neighborhood. I've never had so much trouble as when we moved to the "good" neighborhood in NW. (we then left the DMV entirely for other reasons)

Funny (not really), but I know what you mean. The EOTP neighborhood I lived in pre-gentrification had very few issues with break-ins or muggings, because no one had much of value. But after all those people with money started moving in, easy targets….

+1 Same here.

Do you have any friends, period? Doubtful with your attitude.

I have many friends, I fight for my friends and their existence

Anonymous wrote:I feel like DC has been recently flooded with very cheap guns. So cheap, in fact, that unruly teens and mentally ill vagrants are getting their hands on these weapons. And they are often “ghost guns” that are not made by the usual legal firearms industry.

Clean up the illegal guns on the street. It seems to be a lot worse than before. Teens have always been a menace in DC, but it’s a lot worse now because someone is flooding these kids with guns. That escalates the severity of the crimes and immature teens are more likely to pull the trigger.

So stop and frisk? Yes, please.

If you actually look at the crime data map, most of the crime happens in NW. It spans are far larger area than SE/SW.
